Youth Piano Training

A more structured track for older kids and teens ready for a deeper commitment to piano.

Youth Piano Training is built for older kids and teens who have outgrown an introductory pace and are ready for a more structured, technically demanding track. It sits between Kids Piano Lessons and the kind of intensive study a student might pursue if preparing for competitive performance.

Technique, theory, and repertoire are pursued in more depth here than in earlier programs, with an expectation of more consistent, focused practice.

Who This Program Is For

  • Students roughly ages 10 through 17 with a foundation already in place
  • Students ready to commit to a more structured, technically rigorous practice routine
  • Families considering a longer-term path toward more advanced repertoire

Learning Goals

  • Deepen technical control across a wider range of repertoire
  • Build music theory understanding alongside playing, not as an afterthought
  • Develop the discipline and independence needed for more advanced study

What Students Work On

  • More demanding technical exercises and etudes
  • Repertoire that stretches reading, coordination, and interpretation
  • Applied music theory tied directly to the pieces being learned

The Lesson Experience

Lessons assume a student is ready to be pushed technically, with more direct feedback and a faster pace than earlier programs. Practice expectations increase accordingly, and instructors work with students on structuring practice time efficiently rather than just increasing the number of hours.

Benefits

  • A genuine step up in technical and musical depth from earlier programs
  • Theory integrated directly with repertoire, not taught separately
  • A track that can lead naturally into Performance Preparation
